Green Pages
For my capstone project my group and I were asked to participate in the Conservation Toolkit Project at William and Mary Conservation. The project goal was to create an interface that would help the client achieve their conservation goals. One of the client’s main goal was to support the survival of wildlife and educate others about sustainable practises.
Through a series of preliminary discussions with conservationists at William and Mary, I identified several issues related to information management. One of the primary challenges I encountered was the overwhelming amount of information available across multidisciplinary fields. After discovering the main pain point my group and I began crafting a solution. We created Green Pages web extension that fostered connections among users who are working on the same or similar projects.
With a solution in mind I began creating wireframes for the interface. I then prepared for user testing by creating tasks that users could complete on the interface and conducted user interviews. Through testing the prototype I learned that conservationists had trouble verifying information they found on the internet. With that in mind I added a verification feature to the interface.
Overall the project was a success as the client was content with the interface and my group earned the Capstone Award for our work.
